Who said i am legion for we are many

And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many. And he saith to him: My name is Legion, for we are many. English Revised Version And he asked him, What is thy name?

Matthew Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.

Mark For Jesus had already declared, "Come out of this man, you unclean spirit! Mark When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. This is the mission Jesus gave to the man once possessed. I recognize within myself a host of inner demons that only Christ can cleanse. While I am giving into my demons that would lead me astray at every turn and torture me, I am not in my right mind.

But when I have come to Christ and have received of his grace, and the evil that controlled my life has been sent away, I am free. I can now think and see clearly, and am desirous to sing His praises. The physical miracle played out in the New Testament of the man once possessed is likened to us me at least and the cleansing we need to experience by our coming to and acknowledging Christ and his role in our life. Only when I submit myself to His power as Redeemer can I have my legion of sins banished and I once again come into my right mind.

The blessing of being alive in the last dispensation of time is that we no longer have to receive a directive to go and preach the gospel. That directive is built into everything about the gospel of Christ for this dispensation. Our baptismal covenant charges us to represent or stand for Christ at all times in all places. Our Temple covenants further that charge. Even the prophet has told us that we need to be ministering and inviting all to come unto Christ.

I personally believe demons exist because the Bible speaks of them as well as hell. I have recently ran across this guy on YouTube who is basically telling his followers that demons do not exist but is a mind set a form of psychosis and not actually thinking spiritual beings with its own personality. I personally do not believe or agree with this theory, because the Bible has never shown or uncovered this this to me, in my readings.

I wish you was on his live that day. Thank you for sharing the revelation that the Holy Spirit had give you in this passage. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed. My name is Legion; for We Are Many.

Thus, the site of Gadara can align both textually and geographically with the biblical account of the demoniacs and the herd of swine.

The pigs may also be an allusion to Legio X Fretensis , which occupied Jerusalem after AD 70, and had the boar as one of its symbols. The Bartimaeus connection As noted above, Matthew has two demon-possessed men instead of one, and does not mention the name "Legion".

Similarly, in his version of the Blind Man of Jericho, Matthew has two blind men instead of one and omits the name Bartimaeus, both men remaining anonymous. Duplication and anonymity are characteristics of the Matthean versions of both stories. In popular culture Some works of fiction had taken "Legion" as the proper name of a demon. The collective aspect can be emphasized such as in "", the second film in the heisei Gamera series, that uses the first biblical quote to introduce the space insects Legion.

However, unlike the biblical Legion, it is one demon covered in the corpses of many men. The actual demon has an argument with Father Gilbert in the episode finale. The phrase "For we are many" is said almost by each "Boss" of the game as a sort of catch phrase denoting their alliance with him.
