If you want bigger than 16" is will get trickier. Diamond Racing wheels is another option- they will build you steel wheels for decent prices. Originally Posted by Jordan. Truck wheels are heavy. Nobody knows what the dropwell diameter is, so I don't know if you could find a front wheel drive center to weld in. I believe that they weigh 31 pounds. Too bad nobody makes a high strength steel rim shell in 17" size. The reason that Diamond racing wheels are so light is that their rim shells are thinner than street steel wheels. Get some standard centres 13,14 or 15 and take thme to a wheels works. They will replace the standerd hoop with one of your desired width.
I'm an offset novice to be honest any ideas what you think I should go for? Join Date Jan Location south west sydney Posts I got the impression from calling around that not many places are interested in taking on the job.
Get mk3 steelies. With help from specialised equipment, our experienced tradesmen can widen or narrow both alloy and steel wheels to any specifications. Alloy wheel narrowing involves cutting the back section of your wheel, cutting the required reduction out of the back section, before fitting and welding it back onto the front section of your wheel. Considering steel wheels, our team will widen or narrow by cutting the centre out of your wheel, buying a new outer barrel of the required size, and then welding your centre into the new barrel.
The Steel Surgeon is pretty reasonable too I've heard.
